Amnesty International is a worldwide organization whose purpose is to promote the observance of human rights globally, believing that as individuals we have the right and responsibility to demand that governments ensure human rights for all people. Members write letters of petition to legislators, ambassadors, and other government officials to request the release of the wrongly imprisoned and to solicit help for those in need. Members meet regularly to choose and complete these letters of petition and to work on other projects.
