Administration

Beverly McAuliffe, EdD, has been SHA’s principal since July 2001. Dr. McAuliffe holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in English and a doctorate in Educational Leadership.

J. Michael Hardesty, Colonel (retired), is assistant principal and dean of students. He has a master’s degree in finance. Col. Hardesty areas of focus are safety, discipline, and extra-curricular activities.

Sheila Huff Ed.S is Assistant Principal, Dean of Studies, Faculty and Administrative Systems. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and Education, a Masters in Library Science and an Education Specialist in Computerized Instruction.

Amy Nall is Sacred Heart Academy's Dean of Studies, Faculty and Curriculum Development. She has a bachelor's degree in English, a Master of Arts in Teaching English, and is currently pursuing her Educational Specialist degree.

Counseling Office

Five counselors assist students with personal problems. The junior and senior counselors also assist students with the college search, scholarship, and application process.

Sacred Heart counselors believe that college is a match for each or our students and helping the student find that match is taken very seriously. The college search is considered a team effort of the student, her parents and Sacred Heart. It is never too early to begin the college match and more often for many too late. It is the goal of the counseling office to provide timely and college information throughout the four years of high school.

For parents, the counseling office offers individual class parent night meetings with the grade specific counselors and the “Counselors’ Roundtable” sessions for all parents. These sessions cover college-related topics such as athletics, financial aid, scholarship development, special talents in the arts, the college search process, and making the break/leaving home. The SHA College Handbook is distributed to juniors in the fall. It informs parents and students about many college specific issues.

Counselors meet with students individually and in groups covering topics such as the college search process, understanding their standardized test results, efficient college visits, college admission timelines, and related information. The counselor is the student/parent’s liaison to the somewhat complex college process. All counselors encourage parents to make appointments for private meetings. Counselors are available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. most school days, or, if necessary, other arrangements can be made.
